I just stumbled upon this photo of Gia… My first thought was OMG. The shot in Vogue is great, but this… this is almost too much. I’m the kind of person who does not believe in coincidence in life; everything was meant to be as it is or was… To me, this photo says it all about Gia and the path that she chose. A friend of Gia’s once asked her why she put herself through such hell with her addiction and why she worked in a business that she thought was b.s.. Gia simply said: “I have to do this. I have to go through this.”

very excited to see the release of your upcoming magazine. might submit some pictures of my own as well!

BTW richard avedon was an incredible photographer… you are so lucky to have been able to work with him. when i first moved to new york, he was on top of my list of people i wished to meet. he passed away shortly after. but every time i look at his photographs i meet him again and again.
